These days, artificial intelligence (AI) is almost ubiquitous and has permeated many facets of our life, both personal and professional. In fact, manufacturers have chosen to include AI into their gear. I am referring to the computer behemoth Logitech, whose most recent mouse, the Logitech Signature AI Edition M750, now features special AI buttons. For you, may this be the ideal mouse?

The M750 is a simple, minimalist mouse that comes in black exclusively, just like Logitech’s other productivity mice. That’s definitely for the best as it highlights the teal button, which is the mouse’s primary feature. The Logi AI Prompt Builder appears when you click this, however there are two more AI buttons on the mouse! Despite its attractive AI features, this mouse is far from ideal and has been difficult for me to use. However, you get a fairly good value at $49 instead.

    Minimalistic design

The Signature AI Edition M750, like many of Logitech’s office accessories, is simple in style and without gaudy lights. With a rubber grip around it, the mouse takes stylistic inspiration from the Signature M650. However, since black is the only color available, you won’t have as many options. The teal button, which contrasts well with the black, activates the AI Prompt Builder (more on that shortly). This mouse won’t stand out in an office setting because even the Logi logo is subtle.

    AI features

Let’s discuss the primary topic: the AI features of the Logitech Signature Edition M750. Three buttons on the mouse are allocated to AI. There are two buttons on the left edge. One launches ChatGPT, while the other activates the dictation function, which lets you speak instead of typing. The Logi AI Prompt Builder is accessed by clicking the teal icon. You must have Logi Options+ installed on your Windows or macOS computer in order to utilize these capabilities.

One useful function is the AI Prompt Builder. Four “recipes” are pre-installed on it: Rephrase, Summarize, Reply, and Create Email. The AI response’s tone, duration, complexity, and style may all be customized. The Prompt Builder opens and instantly replicates your text when you choose text on a webpage and click the teal button. Very cool!

Although it wasn’t as lighthearted as I had hoped, it still paraphrased well. It’s crucial to remember that the AI Prompt Builder makes use of ChatGPT 3.5, which isn’t as sophisticated as ChatGPT 4o but adequate for the job.

Each of the three AI functions effectively. The email responder may also be trained to provide prompts in your own tone and style. If you’re tired of answering “Yes, I’ll attend this meeting” five times a day, you can also create bespoke replies, which might save you a ton of time.

Nevertheless, you may remap these functions to standard buttons using Logi Options+ if you find yourself not using them. However, if you don’t plan to use an AI mouse, why would you get one?

    Made for the office

If you ignore how uncomfortable it is for medium-sized hands, which I’ll discuss later, the Logitech Signature AI Edition M750 is essentially a productivity mouse designed for use in the workplace. However, in terms of productivity, it’s excellent – far superior to the more expensive Microsoft Surface Precision ($99).

Although pressing the left and right click keys is haptic, they aren’t loud enough to annoy your coworkers. This is because, according to the company, 90% of click noises are reduced using Logitech’s SilentTouch technology, which is also utilized in the Logitech MX Master 3S ($99). Regular and endless scrolling are the two scrolling modes available on the textured clickable scroll wheel, commonly referred to as the SmartWheel. The latter is a useful tool to have when you need to scroll to the bottom of a spreadsheet, but it doesn’t function as intended (more on that soon).

    Dongle storage on board

As with the mouse’s dongle storage, the Logitech Signature AI Edition M750 is a well-designed mouse. Its lower half may be pushed open to expose a dual compartment that holds the 2.4GHz dongle and the AA battery. I was happy that the M750 didn’t have onboard dongle storage because I’ve lately tried two mice that didn’t, the Keychron M3 Mini 4K Metal and the Turtle Beach Pure Air.

    It’s not a special mouse.

It’s vital to remember that the Logitech Signature AI Edition M750 is not the only Logi mouse that has the ability to launch the AI Prompt Builder, even if the inclusion of three dedicated AI buttons is cool. On their website, Logitech provides a number of keyboards and mouse whose keys may be remapped to AI functions using Logi Options+. I experimented with the Logitech MX Master 3S and discovered that I was still able to utilize the AI functions.

The M750 isn’t a bad mouse by any means, but I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I claimed I didn’t think its marketing was deceptive.

    Scrolling endlessly isn’t really limitless.

As previously indicated, the scroll wheel of the Logitech Signature AI Edition M750 offers two settings, however endless scrolling is unimpressive. Some mice do a great job of implementing infinite scrolling, which is essentially a faster scrolling speed as the scroll wheel continues to spin. However, the M750’s mouse wheel isn’t free to spin; you have to move it all the time, which negates the point.

On the other hand, the Razer Pro Click Mini’s “free-spin mode” makes sure the wheel continues to spin long after you’ve reached the bottom of a spreadsheet, like it should! Like the Logitech MX Anywhere 3S and the MX Master 3S, which also have amazing free-spinning endless scroll wheels, I wish this function was better incorporated on the M750.

    Only for little hands

To be quite honest, I haven’t found the Logitech Signature AI Edition M750 to be the most comfortable mouse. Because of its dimensions of 4.25 x 2.4 x 1.52 inches, it is made for individuals with tiny hands. After a few hours of use, my wrist started to pain because I had medium-sized hands.

Although I have previously used smaller mouse, such the Razer Pro Click Mini, the M750 is more curved, requiring my wrist to bend further than the Pro Click Mini, which has a flatter shape. While ergonomics may not be an issue for everyone, it is crucial when selecting peripherals that you will use for extended periods of time.

Makes use of a single-use battery

As a wireless-only mouse, the Logitech Signature AI Edition M750 lacks any connectors for connecting wires. Not able to charge it? Don’t worry, it still runs on a throwaway AA battery. Disposable batteries provide you a lengthy battery life; according to Logitech, this mouse may last up to 24 months, but they are extremely harmful to the environment. They are also not economical because you will have to constantly purchasing batteries.

    Conclusion

To sum up, the Logitech Signature AI Edition M750 is a creative effort to incorporate AI into a productivity mouse, with special features like the AI Prompt Builder and AI-specific buttons. Although these characteristics make some jobs more convenient and efficient, the mouse has some significant drawbacks, such as being uncomfortable for medium-sized hands, having dull limitless scrolling, and using disposable batteries. For those who are interested in its AI capabilities, it offers good value for $49; nonetheless, its ergonomics and sophisticated functionality are not as good as those of competing productivity mouse. Because of this, the M750 is not necessarily the best solution for everyone, but it is a good alternative for people with smaller hands and certain AI requirements.
